Davitt welcomes school works in Mullingar

Cllr Aidan Davitt has welcomed the extensive school works that have been carried out in Mullingar town over the summer, saying he is very pleased with the improvements which will benefit children on their return to school.

Presentation Convent was the largest of these jobs, with new classrooms built and extensive rewiring and plumbing carried out in the senior and junior schools.

“This project spend was well over €1,000,000 and a great help to the local economy as most of the skilled labourers were locally based,” said Cllr Davitt.

Bellview National School was also completely rewired over the summer and St Finian’s College carried out major structural improvements. The spend on these two projects was in excess of €400,000.

Lastly there has been ongoing work in St Mary’s CBS over the last year, concluding with new windows over the summer period.

Cllr Davitt praised all involved in these well-run projects, adding that he hopes to see the long promised Loreto extension start in the near future.
