McDonald’s Mullingar scoops EIQA Hygiene Award

McDonald’s Mullingar has won the Hygiene Restaurant Award at the 40th annual National Quality and Excellence Awards which is organised by Excellence Ireland Quality Association (EIQA ), the certification body and the national quality association since 1969 which promotes business excellence across all industries.

The awards were presented by Minister Barry Andrews and were attended by over 800 companies, organisations, and enterprises from all over Ireland.  They were divided into 24 categories spread across three main areas – Quality and Excellence, Hygiene and Food Safety, and Employee Engagement.

Commenting on the award, Sean Corcoran, McDonald’s owner/operator in Mullingar, said, “Within the evaluation process our team underwent an audit involving an inspection of the premises, interviews with staff and management on hygiene procedures, as well as an examination of cleaning training records, all resulting in a discussion on the findings. Everyone at the restaurant pulled together and it is very satisfying to know that the crew in Mullingar excelled in all stated areas.”

The National Quality and Excellence Awards have grown in strength each year with over 3,000 companies entering in 2008 with finalists having to excel in the most rigorous of audit/assessment programmes designed to produce long-term understanding and commitment to quality in every aspect of their business.
