Fundraising for Westmeath Special Olympics is in full swing, with just six weeks left in the campaign which runs to the end of May.
One local company, Profile Hair Design of Oliver Plunkett Street, Mullingar, held a coffee morning for clients last Saturday April 18, which proved to be a great success.
While enjoying teas and coffees and plenty of pampering and care from all the team, Profile Hair Design raised nearly €400 which was presented to Tom Swan of the Westmeath Special Olympics campaign. Many thanks to all who supported the event, especially June Masterson, Ruth Cassidy, Mary Williams, Cat Dolan, David Plunkett, Niamh Charles, and Coliosa Gallagher.
Fundraising events are being organised right around the country, and people are really showing their kindness and general fun factor in organising fundraising events for the Westmeath campaign.
There are approximately 872 people with an intellectual disability in Westmeath, but only 216 of them are athletes in Special Olympics Ireland. The money raised will go towards providing sports training and competitions for those athletes and to reach out to those people not already involved. It will also be used to recruit and train volunteers and to develop new clubs throughout Ireland.
The team at Profile Hair Design show just how easy it is to set up a fundraiser. Every euro raised is greatly needed for the charity. Every registered event really makes a difference to the people involved in the Special Olympics.
If you have an idea in mind, or if you are doing the women’s mini marathon, why not choose the Special Olympics as your chosen charity? You could do a sponsored walk, a pub quiz, a pyjama party, or even organise a coffee morning like the team at Profile Hair Design.
