Local businesses in need of some good news

Ahead of her visit to Mullingar and her appearance at the Mullingar Chamber Awards Patricia Callan, director of the Small Firms Association has said "I am very much looking forward to attending the Mullingar Chamber of Commerce Awards. In these dark times, small businesses really are the shining light. In Ireland, there are 250,000 entrepreneurs, who provide employment to half the private sector workforce, some 800,000 people.

“Entrepreneurship and the encouragement of risk-taking has always been strong in Mullingar, and will continue to be the cornerstone of our economic success into the future. It is true that we are all desperately in need of a good news story. The Mullingar Chamber of Commerce Awards will deliver just that, in rightly celebrating the achievement, innovation and excellence of small businesses in the town. Everyone can learn from these award-winning companies and in turn they can become better businesses themselves. Together, we can create the spirit of entrepreneurialism that will lead us out of this recession and back to economic growth."

The Mullingar Chamber Annual Business Dinner and Awards are taking place on Thursday April 30 in the Annebrook House Hotel at 7pm. All members are welcome to attend on the night. Tickets are €65, which includes a four course meal and a disco to follow.

The overall sponsor for the awards is previous award winner Wallace Recycling.
