RTE visits Castlebar Pantomime rehearsals

There was great excitement at the Castlebar Pantomime rehearsals last week when the cast were visited by RTE which filmed a rendition of 'Be Our Guest', one of the favourites from Beauty and The Beast.

RTE joined the cast to record a short clip for its upcoming Christmas Calendar short clips to be aired both online and on the TV. It is expected that the clip will air on Monday December 18.

Under the masterful guidance of musical director John Flatley, the singing this year is the best ever. With more than 60 talented children, intermediate, and adults, we would not expect anything less from pantomime. From 'Tale As Old As Time' to 'Uptown Funk', there is a great mix of old and new, ballad and pop, and something for everyone to sing or clap along to.

Beauty and The Beast is another romping, stomping, panto from the team at Castlebar Pantomime. Beauty and the Beast is the ultimate tale of true love brought to life with all the usual panto trimmings that we know and love plus a bit more besides. Most people will be familiar with the Disney version, but of course this version is different. But then you would not expect anything else.

What has the wicked Mallabelle done to our handsome Prince? Will Ma sacrifice herself to save Beauty? Will Beauty ever love the Beast? Will Ma, Felix (the talking Poodle ), Cappucine (the female blacksmith ), and Beauty’s poor awkward brother Jacques save the day? Thee is only one way to find out!

Go along and enjoy the fun, dancing, and sing along with the villagers, enchanted furniture, and myriad wolves, bears, and maybe the odd ghost.

Beauty and The Beast will run from Wednesday, January 3, until Sunday, January 7 2018, in An Sportlann, Castlebar. Evening shows at 7.30pm and matinees at 2.30pm. Tickets are on sale now through Ticketmaster costing €16 adult; €13 child; and €50 for a family (two adults and two children ).
