Munnelly hopes road works will help boost Killala

An opportunity will soon present itself for Killala to enhance the entrance to the town according to one member of the Ballina Municipal District. Fine Gael councillor Jarlath Munnelly says the soon to be completed relief road at the north Mayo town will “make traffic flow more smoothly in Killala and could afford the council the opportunity to create a more aesthetically pleasing entrance to the town.”

He welcomed the €249,000 funding which has been allocated to complete the project and will see a new section of road between Shore Rd and the Killala-Ballina main road. Cllr Munnelly told last week’s meeting of the Ballina Municipal District that “the presence of a tree at the Shore Rd/Ballina Rd junction should be left in place and used as the main feature in landscaping.”
