St Patrick's Drama group presents Stolen Child

St Patrick's Drama Group in Westport is busy rehearsing Stolen Child by Yvonne Quinn and Bairbre Ni Caoimh. The play concerns a daughter's search for her mother, when she hires a detective she has no idea what is ahead of her. This gripping play uncovers life in an orphanage, forced adoption, but also friendship and loyalty.

This play is not to be missed. It has become very popular with amateur drama groups, and will be on stage at Westport Town Hall Theatre from Tuesday, April 25, to Friday, April 28, at 8pm nightly. St Patrick's Drama Group is one of the most active groups in Mayo and is in existence since 1964. In January 2016 the group staged Sive by John B Keane and brought it to St Josephs Social Club in Wembley, London, in April last year. In March 2016 Niamh Gleeson directed her own play The Debt which went on stage for four nights and in October 2016 Ciarain Mac Suibhne's play John McBride, which he wrote to commemorate 1916 anniversary was staged and very well received. Last month, Michael McGinnelly's comedy Betwixt and Between filled the Town Hall Theatre for five nights. Members of the cast are Liz Browne who plays Peggy, Tia Crowley playing Angela, Ciarain MacSuibhne plays the detective, and Seamus Cafferkey plays the doctor. Mary Carr directs and Rosaleen Heraty is producer.
