Kirby is Galway’s Best Social Enterprise

Kirby Group Engineering was named Galway’s Best Social Enterprise (CSR ) at the Galway Chamber Business Awards held in the Radisson Blu Hotel Galway on Saturday November 19.

Announcing the winners, Galway Chamber President Conor O’Dowd said: “The Best Social Enterprise Award recognises a company who passionately embraces the spirit of enterprises, innovation, and creativity in a socially responsible manner.”

The prize, of a specially commissioned piece of sculpture by Athenry-based sculptor Donncha Cahill, was presented by Dr Johanna Clancy, chairperson SCCUL Enterprises which sponsored the award.

Commenting on the award, Mark Flanagan, Kirby Group operations director, said: "Kirby Group Engineering is delighted to win the Best Social Enterprise Award. Since our establishment 52 years ago Kirby has always had strong sense of corporate responsibility. While international in nature, our work is delivered locally with significant interaction with the communities we work within. At all times we seek to increase community integration and promote a legacy of social inclusivity and diversity. "
