Get walking for a good cause

As part of the partnership between Western Care Association and the Kavanagh Group marking the associations 50 year anniversary, the Kavanagh Group is delighted to announce a Fun Run-Walk-Jog event. A series of fun walks are to take place across the county on Sunday, June 5 and Monday, June 6 next. Each walk will consist of a 5k and 10k route options, and refreshments will be available afterwards in each store. These walks will bring people of all ages and from all walks of life together to support the wonderful work that Western Care do in each of our towns every day.

John Page, manager of SuperValu Castlebar extends a warm welcome to everyone who would like to join in the fun. “The Kavanagh Group are looking forward to seeing the combined efforts of our staff, our customers, Western Care service users, families, friends and hopefully all those in our community as we embark on this fundraising initiative together, hoping to raise vital funds to enhance and improve the quality of life of those in our communities who are supported by Western Care.”

Teresa Warde, fundraising manager with Western Care, added: “We have always have a fantastic response from families, friends, local businesses, employees and all our wonderful volunteers in our communities throughout the county and we are really hoping you will support this partnership and make this year a real success. The walks are a great opportunity to get out and get some fresh air, enjoy each other's company and still support a local charity. So come on everybody, get up and get walking for Western Care."

Registration is now open in SuperValu stores in Castlebar, Claremorris, Kiltimagh and Westport. Registration costs €10 and under 16s are free, all proceeds go to the Western Care Association.
