Mayo Cancer Support Association Ltd, operating at Rock Rose House Castlebar and The Family Resource Centre in Ballina, is a free confidential support service for people affected by cancer. In order to operate the smooth running of this service a committee of 20 to 25 volunteers, plus administration and professional staff are involved.

Mayo Cancer Support received visits from up to 1,800 people during 2013, 1,870 in 2014 and up to 1,900 in 2015 accessing the services provided, such as drop in service, professional counselling, complementary therapies, bereavement counselling, survivors support group and various workshops such as yoga, laughter yoga, stress relief, mindfulness, vision programme, building self esteem, diet and nutrition advice, and information evenings. They also have a cancer survivors' choir every Wednesday evening.

If any group or individual requires further information or would like to arrange an information evening where someone from the service will come along and give a talk and demonstration of some of the therapies available they are happy to help.

Annually up to €250,000 is needed by Mayo Cancer Support Association to keep the service running and relevant to the needs of cancer sufferers in Mayo, their families and friends. The people of Mayo have always got behind all of their fundraising events over the years and have kept them afloat in the knowledge that all monies raised in Mayo are used for the benefit of the people of Mayo. People recognise the importance that this service plays in the lives of those affected by cancer and are very forthcoming in organising and supporting charity fundraising events to ensure the continuation of the service.

Mayo Cancer Support Association are also very grateful to all the individuals, clubs and organisations who raise money in various ways to ensure the continued survival of this essential service. They are always grateful to the people of Mayo who support our Church Gate and Flag Day collections and to individuals who volunteer to collect on such occasions.
