Pedestrian dies in Mayo crash

A 45-year-old pedestrian died after he was struck by a car near Ballyhaunis on Wednesday night. The incident happened at Grallagh, Ballyhaunis, at about 11.50pm. The man was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was removed to Mayo General Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

Nobody else was injured in the crash. The scene was preserved for a technical examination and traffic diversions were put in place. Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact Ballyhaunis Garda Station on (094 ) 9630008 or the Garda Confidential Line, 1800-666-111.
