Ring welcomes progress in Tubberhill Housing Project

Michael Ring, Minister of State for Tourism and Sport, has welcomed the confirmation from the Department of the Environment, Community and Local Government that Mayo County Council has been given permission to proceed with detailed design and tender documentation for the proposed housing project at Tubberhill, Westport.

Minister Ring said: “This is very welcome news that this project is being progressed at this rate. Also, I strongly welcome the announcement by the Department to increase the budget for this project which will result in 21 houses being constructed at Tubberhill, Westport.

“This allocation as outlined previously is part of a national allocation of funding by Minister of State at the Department of Environment, Community and Local Government, Paudie Coffey TD, under the Government’s €3.8 billion social housing strategy announced last November up to 2020,” he continued.

"This is just one of the ways that this Government will be delivering social housing units and it demonstrates the Government’s commitment in addressing the need for more social housing.”
