Famous weather watcher predicts June heatwave

New Zealand astrologer and weather watcher, Ken Ring, who has become famous for his Irish weather predictions, says Mayo will be basking in sunshine for two weeks in early June.

Some of Mr Ring’s famously accurate predictions include the heatwave in July of 2013 and the harsh winter of 2010.

The former maths teacher and author of more than 30 books on weather and climate said the best summer spell will be in the first two weeks in June when sun worshippers will be able to enjoy temperatures in the mid 20s over an extended number of days.

However, Mr Ring is predicting the hottest day of the Mayo summer will fall in August when the county can expect to bask in a sizzling 25 degrees celcius.

He has predicted other warm periods for mid July, July 30 to August 2, and August 18 to September 1.

Mr Ring made his predictions for each county in Ireland this summer in partnership with Dulux, which is promoting its Weathershield 15 minute shower-proof paint formula as DIY season kicks off.

Dulux said it also commissioned an Ipsos MRBI poll on Irish people’s close relationship with the weather.

The survey found that 60 per cent of Irish people admit to talking about the weather at least twice a day and one in four talk about it four times a day.

Irish people also have their firm favourites when it comes to weather presenters.

RTE’s Evelyn Cusack is the nation’s favourite forecaster (21 per cent ).

TV3’s Martin King came hot on her heels in second place with 20 per cent of the vote, and Jean Byrne followed with 10 per cent.
