Westport's Frankie Mallon, of An Port Mor, has been named the Seafood Chef of the Year 2014 at the prestigious Georgina Campbell Awards.
Each year, Georgina Campbell and her team of experienced assessors comb the country's hotels, country houses, guesthouses, restaurants, pubs and cafes to find the best experiences for the respected Georgina Campbell guide.
This year, the team have awarded Mr Mallon as their top choice for seafood.
The award citation describes Mr Mallon's cooking as an 'exuberant celebration of local foods'.
“He sleeps and breathes the foods - and especially the seafoods - of his adopted home in the west," continues the citation. "Whatever he cooks, this engaging Euro-Toques chef delights customers with his creative yet no nonsense cooking, noted for great sauces and flavour.”
