Claremorris to rock to the ‘Rhythm of Life’

Local musical society launches big 2015 production

Musical season is officially open in Claremorris.

The award winning Claremorris Musical Society officially launched its ninth annual production last week, and members are all set to bring the toe tapping show Sweet Charity to the newly renovated town hall in January 2015.

Filling the principal roles, Vivienne Lee, Richie Heneghan, Mary Dempsey, Karen Ronane, Michael Goulding, Simone Dooley, Dave Gallagher, Liam Newman, Kate Hughes, Sharlene Ruane, and Angela Prenty are all busy in rehearsal to bring the story of the kind hearted dancer Charity Hope Valentine, and her search for true romance, to the stage.

Sweet Charity features a host of well known songs such as ‘Big Spender’, ‘There’s Gotta be Something Better Than This’, ‘If My Friends Could See Me Now’, and ‘Rhythm of Life’.

It is described as a tale of loyal friendships, love, determination, and strength, filled with big musical numbers, good humour, and energetic dance and choreography.

The production team this year is made up of producer June Alison-Keane, director and choreographer Hazel McLynn, and musical director Deirdre Lee.

Ms Alison-Keane said she is delighted the musical society keeps going from strength to strength.

“Following on from the success of last year’s show, Singin’ in the Rain, I am delighted that the interest, enthusiasm, and talent continues to grow year after year,” she enthused.

“I am really looking forward to working with such a fabulous cast and production team on yet another great show.”

The show will be staged from January 23 to 25.
