Twenty-three groups and venues across Mayo are throwing open their doors tonight and calling on more people to dip their toes in the huge cultural offerings of the county to celebrate national Culture Night.
From poetry, drama, and ceilis to workshops, exhibitions, talks and tours, tonight will see a splendid showcasing and celebration of everything cultural in Mayo.
Regardless of where you are in the county, there is a Culture Night event taking place nearby, with events planned for Achill, Ballina, Ballinrobe, Ballintubber, Ballycastle, Ballycroy, Belmullet, Bohola, Ceathrú Thaidhg, Castlebar, Claremorris, Kilkelly, Lahardane, Louisburgh, Tuar Mhic Éadaigh, Turlough, and Westport.
Altogether, more than 100 free events are planned for Culture Night celebrations across Ireland.
This year marks the sixth Culture Night in Mayo and it has grown steadily since its introduction.
“Last year, almost 2,000 people of all ages engaged with Culture Night across Mayo, and even more are expected to take advantage of this year’s night of cultural adventure and discovery,” said Mayo arts officer, Ann Marie McGing.
