Mulroy’s Gastropub and Dalton Inn Hotel up for carvery awards

Two Mayo businesses are in the running for the Great Carvery of the Year awards, following the announcement of the shortlist for Great Carvery Hotel of the Year and Great Carvery Public House of the Year. Mulroy’s Gastropub located on Main Street, Castlebar, has been nominated in the Public House section as one of three finalists from Connacht and 12 nationally, while The Dalton Hotel on Dalton Street, Claremorris, has been nominated in the hotel section.

The overall winners will be revealed at the grand final in Dublin in September. Each of the winning venues will receive PR to the value of €2,500 and marketing support valued at €2,000 for each venue. The winners’ prize also includes a specially commissioned wall plaque to remind customers that they are about to sit down and enjoy the best carvery in Ireland.

Launched in 2010 by Unilever Food Solutions Ireland, Great Carvery of the Year is a nationwide search for Ireland’s best pub and hotel carvery.

Due to a hugely successful first year, the competition was expanded to create two separate categories of winner in 2011: the Great Carvery Pub of the Year and Great Carvery Hotel of the Year. In 2012, the competition was extended to include Northern Ireland, and an online public vote was also introduced to determine a top three shortlist of Best Hotel Carvery and Best Pub Carvery from each region – Munster, Leinster, Connacht and Ulster. In 2013 Unilever Food Solutions introduced a text vote for the 2013 competition. For more details, see www.greatcarvery.com
