Food & Wine Magazine thumbs-up for Mayo restaurants

La Fougere restaurant at Knockranny House Hotel has been shortlisted across numerous categories in the prestigious Food & Wine Magazine Restaurant of the Year Awards.

The restaurant is in the running for two regional awards – for best restaurant in Connacht and one for best chef.

The head chef is Seamus Commons.

The restaurant was also shortlisted for two national awards for best wine experience and best sommelier. Nicolas Fajours is the sommelier.

An Port Mór, Westport, Ashford Castle in Cong, and The Lodge at Ashford (formerly Lisloughrey Lodge ) were also shortlisted for regional awards.

An Port Mór and Ashford Castle are both in the running to be named best restaurant in Connacht while head chefs Frankie Mallon of Port Mór and Jonathon Keane of The Lodge are both shortlisted for best chef in Connacht.

The long-running annual Food & Wine Magazine awards are widely regarded as some of the top accolades in the restaurant industry.

Regional and national winners will be announced at a ceremony in The Four Seasons, Dublin, on August 17.
