Achill’s German connection highlighted

Achill Island has been included on a new, downloadable app celebrating Ireland’s German connections. The island was included in the 20 locations highlighted across Ireland because of its link with Nobel laureate Heinrich Boll. The world renowned author spent alot of time on Achill, in his cottage in Dugort Village, and penned much of his work there, including his famous Irisches Tagebuch (Irish Journal ).

The app was written by journalists Fintan O’Toole and Ralf Sotscheck, and produced by the Goethe-Institut Irland.
