New Glasgow service takes to the skies from IWAK

The first ever service between Ireland West Airport Knock (IWAK ) and Glasgow Prestwick Airport, Scotland, has been launched.

Ryanair has announced it will now fly three weekly services to Glasgow Prestwick Airport from Mayo.

Glasgow is a growing tourist destination and was recently named by TripAdvisor as the third best destination in the UK.

It is also set to play host to the 2014 Commonwealth Games this summer.

The new service will operate every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.

Passengers on the service will also get a free rail travel to anywhere in Scotland when they arrive at Glasgow Prestwick Airport.

Joe Gilmore, managing director, Ireland West Airport Knock, welcomed the new service, describing it as a welcome boost to the region.

“This new service will be welcome news to all those visiting friends and family but will also have a positive impact on the region as a whole as we expect to welcome thousands of Scottish visitors on the new service, as well as providing the opportunity to develop business links between the regions,” he said.
