Castlebar St Patrick’s Day parade to take place on Sunday

The Castlebar St Patrick’s Day parade will take place on Sunday March 16 it has been announced. The date of the parade had been in question following Castlebar Mitchels progressing to the All Ireland Senior Club Championship football final, which takes place on St Patrick’s Day in Croke Park.

Secretary of the Castlebar parade committee Ger Deere told the Mayo Advertiser this week: “After meeting this week it was decided to go with the parade on Sunday. We’re trying to get everyone to throw their support behind the Mitchels ahead of their All Ireland final and the theme of the parade this year will be red and yellow to show support for the team.”

The parade will start from its traditional starting point at the end of McHale Road at 12 noon and will finish up on Main Street.

Anyone would like any further information or to enter a float can contact Ger on 087 7724419.
