Garth-mania sweeps Mayo

Garth-mania has well and truly struck in Mayo, according to a local ticket agent.

The return to Croke Park of country and western superstar Garth Brooks has sent fans across Ireland into a tailspin to ensure they get their hands on the tickets.

Some die hard fans in different parts of the country have even been camping out since yesterday (Tuesday ) to be front of queue when the tickets finally go on sale at 9 am in the morning.

In Castlebar, owner of Downtown Records Marie Flynn, says she can't believe the frenzy fans are getting into ahead of ticket sales for the July 25 and 26 concerts.

“It's absolutely crazy,” she said. “I thought it was bad when Mayo get into an All-Ireland final but I’ve never experienced anything like this,” she exclaimed.

Tickets for the two-night cowboy hat toting extravaganza are expected to sell out within minutes.

Downtown Records have hired security for front of shop from 6 am in the morning.

“There has been major hype amongst young and old,” continued Marie. “For one man with a guitar, it's amazing to see the reaction.”
