The right profile snap is important when doing business on social media

A picture tells a thousand words. And Junior Chamber Ireland (JCI ) Mayo is hoping to help people make sure their picture is telling the right kind of story, particularly on their LinkedIn profile.

LinkedIn is a social networking site for professionals where people network and do business, and the January 2014 meeting of JCI Mayo will be all about the importance of a great profile picture.

So much so that professional photographer Liz King, from King Klix Photography, will be at the meeting to give advice and help professionals get their profile picture just right.

For €20, people will be able to get a new profile picture taken on the night and 50 per cent of the photo fee will go to charity.

The event takes place on  Thursday, January 30, in the Custom House Studio and Gallery, The Quay, Westport, from 7.30 to 9 pm. Light refreshments will also be served after the meeting in The Helm, Westport Quay.

The event is free to attend.

JCI Mayo is part of an international organisation aimed at attracting members aged from 18 to 40, focusing on leadership, entrepreneurship and active citizenship.

The organisation has a strong focus on developing young leaders by involving them in the running of many worthwhile projects which add to and enhance community life in Mayo.

The event will also focus on the benefits of JCI membership for individuals and provide some insight into how to become an active member.
