Foxford woman wins Brí Regional Carer Award

The Brí National Carer Awards took place in the Carlton Hotel, Liffey Valley, Dublin, recently. The awards are to celebrate the extraordinary work that carers around Ireland do on a daily basis. These carers support people who have brain injuries. Celebrities Mary Byrne (X-Factor ) and Nuala Carrey (RTE ) helped make the night a memorable one.

There were four regional awards and an overall winner on the night. The regional winner from the west was Eleanor Ryder from Foxford who cares for her husband Seamus. Ned Rispin from Brí said, "The competition was steep, but Eleanor was a deserving winner.” Eleanor was nominated by her daughter Jennifer who said, “I believe that mum deserves this award through her hard work and constant love for my father through the years. She is my role model and if I thought I would turn out to be half the woman she is, I would be happy." Ned Rispin visited the Ryder family recently to give her the regional award. Eleanor said, "She didn't think she deserved the award, but was grateful to Brí to be nominated". For more information on brain injury log on to www.briireland.ie
