Fine Gael Leader Enda Kenny TD has been informed by Mayo County Council that the restoration works on Newport Road between the Newtown traffic lights and the Dun Beg estate junction have been approved and will be carried out in the near future. Owing to the Christmas season, it is likely that the works will be carried out in the New Year.
Deputy Kenny said: “I highlighted this issue recently and I am delighted to see that improvement works will be carried out. The road had fallen into disrepair in recent times following many works that had taken place in the area but I have received confirmation that these repairs will take place very soon.”
