Decentralisation to Charlestown moves a step closer - Calleary

The advertisement for applications from contractors who wish to be considered for works at the decentralised offices of the Department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs in Charlestown has been welcomed by the Mayo Fianna Fáil TD, Dara Calleary.

“This is a very welcome development, particularly considering the economic challenges that we are currently facing,” commented Deputy Calleary.

He added: “some decentralisation projects were put on temporary hold in this year’s budget, but because so much progress has already been made on the decentralisation of the offices of the Department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs to Charlestown, the Government are continuing to advance it.

“In the current climate I feel that the Government is in a good position to get good value for money for the tax payer in tendering. And of course the project will provide a very welcome boost to employment in the local area.”
