“Mayo Home” released by Coda and the Clew Bay Pipers

Mayo groups Coda and The Clew Bay Pipers have recently collaborated to release a very well received new single called “Mayo Home”. “Mayo Home” is a tribute song to the county of Mayo and its people. Coda and The Clew Bay Pipers hope that it will inspire all Mayo people wherever they are but most importantly the Mayo football team in their endeavour to bring Sam back to the red and green county in almost 62 years!

Coda are made up of seven male singers all from the west Mayo area and The Clew Bay Pipe Band has over 50 members between both senior and junior pipe bands. They premiered the song as part of the Pipe-Versity show at the recent Westport Festival held in Westport House in front of a full house in the big marquee and it wasn’t long before the crowd were singing along to the chorus:

“Lift me up , let me go, to the Mayo home I know. People there, they got soul, they got rock and they got roll”

The song can be listened to for free on YouTube by simply searching for Mayo Home. It is also available for download on iTunes along with all other online music stores. It will also be available shortly as part of Coda’s debut CD due to be released in September. “Mayo Home” even has its own unique logo featuring a curlew, a bird synonymous with the county set green against a red background.

This is a great example of Mayo groups collaborating to produce something that will hopefully inspire Mayo people in their endeavours long after the return of Sam in September!
