Manchester tourism chiefs join forces with Mayo for networking event in Ballina

The Ice House Hotel and Spa has been selected to host a special tourism and business networking lunch between Manchester and Mayo on Thursday August 8. The momentous event is part of the Manchester Mayo Gathering which has now been named as Ireland's biggest 2013 Gathering organised by any UK company. It is being sponsored by Tourism Ireland, Stena Line UK, the Manchester Mayo Tourism and Business group, Mayo.ie and the Ice House. It is also being supported by The Western People, The Catholic Universe and the award winning Full Irish radio show.

Tony Hennigan, the co-ordinator of the Manchester Mayo Gathering, said: “It will be a great event to meet companies and individuals involved in the business and tourism sectors on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean. The Ice House, situated on the banks of the River Moy, will provide a lovely backdrop for this social gathering.”

Sinéad Walkin, the sales and events co-ordinator at the Ice House, added: “We are delighted to be involved in this Gathering event and to play our part in promoting the tourism and business links between Manchester and Mayo.”

Guests already confirmed from Manchester include the president of the Levenshulme Festival, the co-ordinator of the Manchester Mayo Gathering, the co-chair of the Manchester Irish Festival, the president of the Chorlton Irish Club, the president of Manchester's Mayo Association, the director of the Levenshulme Pub Company, the directors of the Horseshoe Pub company, and the manager of the award winning St Kent's Irish Club. The event has also attracted interest from Canada and the director of Calgary Painting Corporation is flying in for the event.
