New CEO of Western Development Commission is Kiltimagh resident

Mayo resident Ray McGreal has taken up his position as chief executive officer of the Western Development Commission (WDC ).

Mr McGreal, who lives in Kiltimagh and who is a native of Tuam, Co Galway, brings to his new role a wealth of experience gained from working in the private and not for profit sectors. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, a fellow of the Institute of Training and Development, and holds an international executive MBA.

“I am pleased to be taking up this role with the WDC and I look forward to working with the WDC board, staff, and regional partners to further develop and facilitate strategies at regional level,” Mr McGreal said.

Paddy McGuinness, chairman of the WDC said: “I would like to welcome Ray to the WDC and wish him well in his new position. His appointment comes at a crucial time of opportunity for the west.”

The WDC is a statutory body set up to promote the social and economic development of the Western Region, (counties Donegal, Sligo, Leitrim, Roscommon, Mayo, Galway, and Clare ). The WDC promotes the development of both regional and larger multinational European projects that will benefit companies in the west of Ireland. The commission supports enterprise financially, actively attracts enterprise and people to the west, and influences government policy with targeted relevant research.
