€329,000 in funding for footpath and pavement works in the county

Minister of State for Tourism and Sport Michael Ring has confirmed that his Department has allocated €329,525 in funding to Mayo County Council for pavement and footpath works in a number of areas in the county.

Funding approved includes €6,000 for pavement cracking on the N5 at Knockatemple, Ballyvary; €33,800 for pavement cracking on the N5 at Carrowgowan, Bohola; €84,000 for pavement replacement at the N5/N60 roundabout in Castlebar; €8,765 for surface dressing on the N17/R322 intersection; €12,000 for footpath construction on the N59 Erris Road, Crossmolina; €39,960 for pavement distress on the N59 Newport Road, Westport; €20,400 for footpath repairs on the N59 Quay Street, Westport; €120,600 for footpath construction and repairs on the N60 Castlebar; and €10,000 for footpath replacement on the N59 Bangor Erris.

Minister Ring said: “I am delighted that this level of funding has been awarded as this work is much needed at the locations listed above. This funding announcement is very welcome news in addition to the roads funding announcement made last week.”
