Fall in numbers on live register in Mayo

The number of people on the live register in the county fell by over 300 between the end of March and the end of April according to the latest figures from the Central Statistics Office. The total number of people on the register in Mayo now stands at 12,457, down from 12,762 at the end of March.

The total number of men on the register is 7,564 with 4,893 women on the register. A total of 1,873 of those on the register are under 25, of whom 1,098 are men and 775 are women.

The busiest social welfare office in the county remains to be Ballina with more than 3,200 people signing on there, while in Castlebar there was 2,348. In Westport 1,785 people are on the register, with another 1,357 in Claremorris and 945 in Ballinrobe.
