Man disqualified from driving after parking in disabled space

A man who pulled up in a disabled space in order to collect his mother from shopping was disqualified from driving for one year at Ballina District Court.

On May 31 2012, Garda Martin McNicholas observed a car parked in a disabled space behind Penney’s in Market Square Car Park, Ballina. David Kilcoyne, Bayview, Binghamstown, Belmullet, was sitting in the driver’s seat and did not have a disabled badge. A fine was issued but not paid.

Kilcoyne has four previous road traffic convictions.

Judge Mary Devins convicted and fined him €250 and disqualified him from driving for one year.
