Ring is only Mayo TD with no investment properties or other ‘interests’

Minister of State for Tourism and Sport, Dep Michael Ring has no interests recorded on the Register of Members Interests of members of Dáil Éireann for the year 2012. The annual register of interests was released at the end of last month and lists the interests in, among other things, property and shares that the members of the Oireachtas have.

Taoiseach, Enda Kenny, listed five land interests, including his family home, his constituency office with overhead apartment, his Dublin apartment which he resides in when in Dublin, and some farmland. The Taoiseach has received a number of memberships in golf clubs in the country listed against gifts. He has also listed a print presented to him by President Barrack Obama, which was valued at €1,500 and which has been given to the State. The Taoiseach has the print on display in the Department of the Taoiseach at present according to the register.

Former Minister of State Dep Dara Calleary lists his junior ministerial severance payment along with rental income from his former principal residence in Dublin as occupational income, with the same property listed against interest in lands he owns.

Dep John O’Mahony, a retired school teacher, lists his pension from the Department of Education along with income from being a landlord in a property in Galway as occupational income on his register. He is also a non-executive director, receiving no payment in a sports merchandising company. In the lands register, Dep O’Mahony recorded his interests in four different pieces of lands including 2.068 hectares in Kilmovee with uninhabitable cottage, a two bedroom bungalow in Ballaghaderreen, an apartment in Galway, and a 25 per cent interest in a shop unit which is to let in Claremorris town.

Fine Gael TD Michelle Mulherin lists six different property interests on her returned register. They are three residential properties in Ballina, one commercial property in Ballina, along with residential properties in both Galway and Dublin. She also listed under directorships her position as chair of Ballina Arts Centre Ltd, which is a voluntary role.
