Calling all swimmers in Mayo to dive in for Rehab

Rehab is calling on swimmers in Mayo to dive in and sign up for the annual Rehab Swimathon which takes place in local pools across the country from March 16 to 23. Rehab is calling on people to make a splash by swimming 1km as individuals or as part of a team while raising vital funds for Rehab in Mayo.

The Rehab Swimathon which is supported by Swim Ireland and the Irish leisure industry body ILAM, gives participants the opportunity to give something back to the community. Over 80 leisure facilities across the country will make their pools available as part of the fundraising effort. All funds raised from the Mayo Rehab Swimathon will go towards improving Rehab’s services for people with disabilities in Mayo.

Kerry Houlihan, fundraising officer, Rehab said, “Swimming is a fun activity for people of all ages and abilities, and many people with disabilities who attend Rehab’s services enjoy regular swimming sessions in their local pools. The great thing about the Rehab Swimathon is that everyone can take part – you can swim one length as part of a team or set yourself an individual challenge of 1km. The money raised from the Rehab Swimathon will go towards providing new experiences for the people that access our services, such as children’s play gardens and adapted vehicles to enable access to activities in the community. Last year over €20,000 was raised for services across the country. This year we want to top that, so grab your goggles and dive in for Rehab!”
