New survey finds eighty six per cent in northwest support Ireland’s EU membership

With Ireland just a few weeks into its EU presidency, a new European Movement/Red C poll has shown that 86 per cent of those polled in the North West EU Constituency believe that Ireland should remain part of the EU, with 83 per cent believing that Ireland has benefited overall from its membership of the EU.

The survey also showed that the North West constituency had the highest level of awareness of Ireland’s current presidency of the EU, with 79 per cent of those questioned aware of it.

When asked about Ireland remaining part of the EU should the UK withdraw, almost two thirds of those who replied (64 per cent ) said that Ireland should, while one in four believed that Ireland should leave the euro currency, which is the same as the national average in other constituencies in the country.
