Duo before court for being drunk in Crossmolina

Two people who were intoxicated in a public place in Crossmolina were both before Ballina District Court this week.

Gardaí went to the river bank in Crossmolina on August 29 2012 at 5.05pm after a man was injured after a fall.

Caroline McDonnell, 14 Chapel View, Crossmolina who was drunk, was incapable of standing and had difficulty in walking. McDonnell was arrested on Main Street.

Judge Mary Devins convicted and fined her €50.

Another person who was at the scene, Patrick Murphy (32 ), Erris Road, Crossmolina was also intoxicated. The defendant was interfering with the work of a doctor who was helping the injured man. The defendant made threats at passers-by when he was asked to move from the scene.

The unemployed man, who has previous convictions, was remanded on continuing bail by Judge Devins to December 11 for sentencing.
