Are you aware?

Aware, the national depression support organisation, is calling on people throughout Ireland to donate a few hours of their time this September 27 to 29 to help with the organisation’s flagship fundraising event. The theme this year is ‘Are You Aware?’, and all funds raised in towns and cities throughout the country will go directly to Aware’s important support, information and education services, which are offered nationwide.

Just a few hours of your time can make a significant difference to Aware’s work. To volunteer or for further information call 01 661 7211; email [email protected] or see www.aware.ie

Aware relies on public donations and fundraising events like this for about 85 per cent of its funding each year and all money raised goes directly to their services.

According to David Carton, chairman of Aware, the organisation is hoping for a successful campaign this year in order to build on the organisation’s important services: “We know many people across the country are aware of the impact of depression, particularly with the challenges we have all faced over the past few years. We are encouraging anyone out there who cares about this important and very common issue to get involved as an organiser or donate even a few hours of their time to help with the campaign this September. Everyone’s contribution makes a real and valuable difference and helps us to continue our vital work.”

Aware’s support services include support groups nationwide and online; a LoCall Helpline open seven days a week (1890 303 302 ), and email support service ([email protected] ). The organisation also offers education programmes including a free secondary schools awareness programme and a Life Skills programme.
