Road safety debate on CRC fm

Tomorrow (Saturday November 29 ) the CRC 102.9 fm flagship current affairs programme Saturday Forum will feature a debate on road safety.

Presenter Stephen Burns will have as his guests Noel Brett, Chief Executive Officer, Road Safety Authority; Philip Durcan, Road Safety Engineer, Mayo County Council; Inspector Michael Murray, head of the Garda Traffic Corps for Mayo; and Noel Gibbons, Road Safety Officer, Mayo County Council.

The hour-long programme will be broadcast live from 11.30am and listeners are invited to phone CRC with their comments on 094 902 5555.

All aspects of road safety will be discussed including speeding, drink driving, detection/enforcement, young drivers and road conditions.

While much has been done to reduce carnage on the roads there is no room for complacency.

The number of lives lost so far this year is down on the same period last year, but targets will only be met if all parties and agencies involved play their part.

All of us, drivers, pedestrians, adults and children, have to take the business of road safety seriously.

At this time of year the loss of a loved one as a result of a traffic accident brings untold grief to family and friends.

To have your say on this important topic phone 094 902 5555 and tune in to CRC 102.9fm tomorrow, Saturday November 29 at 11.30am.
