Postmasters welcome AIB plan to extend services at post office

The Irish Postmasters Union (IPU ) today welcomed the new agreement between An Post and AIB that will increase the services available in some local post offices.

The current range of AIB services available at post offices has been extremely popular with more than three million AIB transactions carried out across the network during 2011.

AIB has been offering cash lodgement, withdrawal, and credit card bill-paying services through post offices for the past decade. As part of its planned branch closures, announced last month, the bank said it would provide cheque lodgements and deposit account transactions at post offices in areas affected by closures.

IPU president Sean Maher said that new business opportunities such as these are vital to secure the future of the post office network. “We look forward to welcoming new AIB customers during the coming months and delivering an excellent customer experience through their local post office.”
