More than €200k pencilled in for road improvements in Castlebar

As part of this year’s budget for Castlebar Town Council, due to be agreed by members, more than €200,000 is to be allocated to road improvements in the town with a total of 16 different projects identified for work over the next 12 months.

These projects include €12,000 for road surfacing at Rathbawn Drive and €28,000 for footpaths and road surfacing at Turlough Road. There will be €19,000 spent on similar works at Chestnut Grove, €16,000 on the Moneen Road, while Pound Road/Church View Villas, Garryduff Drive, Springfield Court, Hopkins Road, and Knockaphunta are to have road surfacing works carried out. Father Meehan Place will see improvement works carried out on stormwater drainage in the area, while Curradish Road will have €10,000 spent on stormwater draining and surfacing, with €14,500 for Lakeshore Drive footpath, drainage, and surfacing works this year - all subject to the approval of town council members next Tuesday (January 10 ) at the annual budget meeting.
