Mayo businesswomen in line for national awards

Following this year’s Network Mayo Businesswomen of the Year awards, three Mayo women will be heading for Dublin Castle representing the county at the Network Ireland Businesswomen of the Year awards.

Crossmolina-native Eithne Cosgrove, winner in the employee category (sales and marketing director with Hotel Westport ), along with Swinford-based Caroline Gordon, accountant and registered auditor, winner of the self-employed category, as well as new business winner, Jenny Brennan, owner of Virtual Office Worx, will all attend the Network Ireland award ceremony on October 21.

Speaking about the national awards, Network Mayo president Olwen Dawe highlighted the achievements of the award winners: “I think it’s testament to the talent within this county – businesswomen driving their employing organisations forward, talented and established business owners, and driven, focused, new businesses – it’s really important to celebrate success on a national stage, and I thank our national president, Mary Kershaw, and her team for facilitating such a great opportunity.”

The Network Ireland theme for 2011, Local Talent for Global Opportunities, indicates the motivation of the national and local organisations, whose focus is on providing networking, support, training, and a platform to share experience for women in business, the professions, arts, and industry. Now more than ever, organisations like Network are critical to business success. Ms Dawe commented: “With an increase in self-employment and people constantly reassessing the way they do business in a bid to manage the times we’re in – networking, advice, and insight are key to growing your business – Network Ireland and its countrywide branches provide this.”

Network Ireland encourages women to do business, market their skills, and expertise with the support of other members throughout the country. It represents more than 3,000 women working in a wide range of industry sectors. Members are recognised as serious contributors to the Irish economy and decision-making bodies. Network Ireland also liaises with national and international organisations as well as key Government and State bodies throughout Europe.

The Network Ireland Businesswomen of the Year awards will take place on Friday October 21, sponsored by the multi-award winning cruise company, Celebrity Cruises, at Dublin Castle.
