N26 project not advancing

There is no progression of the N5/N26 project to Ballina according to Tony McNulty from the road design office The senior engineer made his comments at the Roads and Transportation SPC while updating members on NRA schemes.

However, there is some positive news as the Westport to Turlough scheme on the N5 is ready for approval to go to CPO, this of course depends if the NRA grants approval.

As for work on the Kilbride section of the N59, seven tenders were received and an appointment will soon be made with a contractor on site at the end of October/beginning of November, with one year set as a target for completion.

Funds were also welcomed by SPC members for the one kilometre of work on the R321 Bohola to Kiltimagh road, where €620,000 has been allocated under specific improvement grant funding.
