Ballinrobe Races Ladies Day next Tuesday

One of the most anticipated race meetings of the year takes place at Ballinrobe Racecourse next Tuesday evening, June 21, where the fixture that has grown hugely in popularity over the years gets under way at 5.50pm.

Sponsored by thefashionshed.com, with a prize fund of €5,000, which includes a first prize worth €2,000, well known TV personality Jennifer Maguire will be on hand to pick the woman she believes has the most style.

She will be joined in judging the contenders by Paula Rabbitte of thefashionshed.com and all 10 finalists selected will also enjoy a drinks reception hosted by Ballinrobe Racecourse.

“Ladies Day is always a huge meeting for us and we hope the success of the meeting will continue on Tuesday. It has grown enormously over the years and is now a highly competitive day with the local ladies,” said racecourse manager John Flannelly. “We have worked very hard over the years to keep our facilities upgraded and modern and for a meeting like Ladies Day, this seems to make great appeal to race goers. We have thefashionshed.com on board as sponsors and our celebrity judge is the well known Jennifer Maguire. So it should make for a great meeting.”

The recent two-day meeting at Ballinrobe Racecourse saw improved betting figures once again and although the weather was on the colder side, it still was a successful meeting.

John Madden and Sons, EBF, Coleman Quarries, Purcell Construction, and The Mulranny Park Hotel sponsor races on Tuesday. The card is made up of four flat and three hurdle races.

As well as a great first prize for the best dressed lady, all 10 finalists will receive a €200 voucher from www.bellamakerover.ie, a €50 voucher from thefashionshed.com and various other goodies including a €20 voucher from Martin Murphy newsagents and jewellers, €30 race admission voucher for Ballinrobe Racecourse, and a €10 betting voucher from Jim Desmond Bookmakers.

There will be live music in the Carra Bar and there are great deals available on group bookings for the Coranna and Corrib restaurants with the latter offering admission, racecard, two-course meal and a €5 free bet, all for €30 in bookings of 10 or more people. Normal admission rates remain at €15 for adults, €10 for students and OAPs, with children under 14 free.
