Castlebar Mitchels launches innovative fundraiser for Sacred Heart Hospital,

GAA

Castlebar Mitchels GAA Club this week announced, as part of its programme of events to celebrate its 125th anniversary, it is launching a special limited edition set of Christmas cards for sale, the proceeds of which are going to a nominated local charity, namely, the Sacred Heart Hospital in Castlebar.

The Christmas cards have been specially commissioned by the club and contain photos of all the main club activities that took place during the year. They are a collector’s item for the club’s 125th year and are an ideal Christmas present. They will be on sale in the following shops around the town and are priced at €10 for a pack of 10: Elvery’s Sports, Mick Byrnes, Leo Doherty menswear, Lyons late and early, Mulroys, Casey’s Centra, Newstand, Corrib Oil, and Heatons.

Speaking at the launch, Castlebar Mayor Cllr Ger Deere congratulated Castlebar Mitchels on their 125th anniversary and complimented them on their initiative. “It was great to see Mitchels linking up with such a wonderful institution like the Sacred Heart Hospital to raise badly needed funds,” he said. “We are all aware of the fantastic service provided by the Sacred Heart Hospital to the local community. I would encourage the people of Castlebar to support this fundraiser and to look out for and buy the cards for such a worthy cause.”
