Recessions show up companies for what they really are

With the recession continuing to turn the microscope on all matters work and finance, a marketing professor has pointed out that companies are now also being shown up as to whether they offer good value or not.

Professor John Fahy, Professor of Marketing at the University of Limerick, explained: “When the economy was booming and consumers were spending, all companies could look good, but recessions provide a true test of whether a company is delivering real value to its customers or not.”

Professor Fahy will elaborate on the theme during a marketing masterclass entitled ‘Six Common Marketing Mistakes and How To Correct Them’ when he performs as a guest speaker for Shannon Chamber of Commerce at the Bunratty Castle Hotel on Tuesday November 16 next.

Shannon Chamber’s chief executive Helen Downes added that the masterclass has been framed to assist large, medium and small businesses to understand that ‘marketing is not selling’.
