Armed gang held up couple in Ballinrobe

Gardaí are hunting an armed gang after an early morning hold-up in Ballinrobe. The home of a couple in their early 20s and their 15-month-old child was targeted in the attack.

The three young men, armed with knives and travelling on foot, broke into the house in Brewery Court, Ballinrobe, at 3.10am on Wednesday morning.

The men wore hooded tops and tried to hide their identities by pulling their hoods over their faces. They threatened the couple at knifepoint before trying to steal the family car, but the car would not start and was later found burnt out a short distance away.

Gardaí say the young couple, who are local to Ballinrobe, are traumatised but were not injured during the attack.
