On Saturday July 17, Jogging headline Castlebar’s only independent, underground, original, alternative night out—Finbar Hoban Presents.
Castlebar band Reborn will make their debut at Bar Ritz and will be the first band of the night to take to the stage. Reborn were formed in late 2007 by founding members Colin Dunne, and Patrick Fitzgerald. They have being gigging for the past year, touring with bands such as Gama Bomb, Sirocco, and Steel Tormentor. Reborn have just recorded their new EP ‘Hath Fury’ in Lubeck, Germany, with producer Lasse Lammert. The album is available for free download now at www.reborn1.bandcamp.com, there are also hard copies of ‘Hath Fury’ available from the band’s website at www.myspace.com/rebornbandrocks The second act to take to the stage will be Dublin act Squarehead. They describe themselves as a garage rock band, their music is so fun and fresh and yet it reminds me of so many classic pop tunes.
The headline band on the night will be another Dublin group called Jogging, who are signed up to Richter Collective, the biggest independent label in Ireland right now. Jogging were formed in 2009, so far they have played support to acts such as The Redneck Manifesto, Adebisi Shank, and Giveamanakick.
The band’s debut album Minutes was released in April to critical acclaim (you can now hear a full stream of the album at www.jogging.bandcamp.com ).
On the night DJ Finbar will be back behind the decks, so expect to hear new tunes from The National, Pearl Jam, Mia Sparrow So Cow, and Enemies plus much more! The first band will be on-stage at 9.30pm sharp so make sure you get there early as it promises to be a night that will not disappoint.
