Last minute tips for exam students

With the Leaving and Junior Certificate examinations under way, the online examination, correction, and feedback service, mocks.ie, offers helpful advice to students to make the most of their final study and tips to ensure composure in the exam hall.

Revision plan

Write out a daily timetable for revision from now till the end of your exams. Allocate half hour slots for each subject, allowing more time for the nearer exams. Do not ignore any subject. Variety helps maintain interest. Write summaries of each topic. Include exercise and regular breaks.

Exam plan

Before you enter each exam know the exam layout and the amount of time you have for each section, and each question. Do not exceed your time allocation – you can go back later if you have time.

Equipment

At least 24 hours before each exam check that you have all the required equipment, and that it is in full working order. Carry spares.

Stay calm

Read the questions carefully. Answer the question you have been asked, not the one you would like to have been asked. Read over your answers slowly to check that you have not left out any parts, and that they make sense.

Keep writing

Answer your quota of questions and check your answers carefully. If you still have time left, attempt another question. You will be awarded marks for your best combination of answers.
