Top tips for a wedding to remember

Your wedding day is one of the most important days in your and your partner’s life so by being prepared you are sure to enjoy this momentous occasion.

Draw up a guest list, this gives you an idea of numbers and may influence your choice of venue. Ensure the function room is neither too small nor too big and accommodates your guests comfortably. Arrange to see the venue set up for a wedding, this will give you a sense of what it will be like.

There are four bookings which must be confirmed - the church, hotel, photographer and band. These will often influence the date as well.

Food and entertainment are the two main aspects which make for an enjoyable and memorable day. Ask the hotel to arrange a complimentary menu tasting.

The dress must be comfortable and if there is a train make sure it is possible to secure it easily.

Delegate responsibilities on the day for the wedding party to allow yourselves a stress free day, ie, best man should be responsible for envelopes and presents.

Table plans are becoming more popular. Organising this can be very stressful but can lead to less confusion on the day. However, if you decide to opt for a table plan, compile it carefully and be sure that your guests will be comfortable throughout the meal and speeches.

Avail of the outdoors, if the weather is fine move the champagne reception out onto the lawn. Choose a scenic area for photographs.

Be organised. Have a time frame of how long the photos should take, etc.

Honeymoon. Take a day or so after the wedding to spend time with family and guests who have travelled from abroad. Lunch with family and friends the day after is a great way to reminisce and unwind. Pack for your honeymoon in advance and remember you’ll need a few days of relaxation before your bodies and minds are ready to take on an action packed adventure as man and wife!
