Woman’s body found during search for missing Ballina man

A woman’s body was removed from the River Moy in Ballina on Sunday and taken to Mayo General Hospital where a post-mortem examination has been carried out.

Gardaí do not suspect foul play. The deceased, who was removed from the river at Bachelor’s Walk during a search for missing man Paddy Murphy, has been named locally as Brid Corcoran from Marian Crescent, Ballina.

Meanwhile the body of Paddy Murphy was found at Carrenrod, Easkey on Monday afternoon. A postmortem has been carried out at Sligo General Hospital. He had been missing since last Thursday night, December 17, when he was seen walking alone towards the traffic lights at the junction of Pearse Street and O’Rahilly Street in Ballina.
